Project News: Well repairs at Campo M'aan

Well repair project in Campo Maan, Cameroon

In recent months the David Hoyle Foundation has been working in partnership with The World Wide Fund for Nature on a well repair project in the village of Campo M'aan in Cameroon. The village well has been in need of repair for several years but the costs have proved prohibitive.

On her trip to the country in August 2019, Marceline met with WWF engineers who will be undertaking this important project to bring clean drinking water to residents of the village. The foundation is paying over £3,000 towards the project, which will see the well repaired and made functional again over a period of around a week.

At the same time, local people will learn how the repairs are undertaken so that they can undertake maintenance on the well in the future.

Charity of the year (three times!)

David Hoyle Foundation selected as “Charity of the Year” (three times!)

Two local schools and the Crondall & Ewshot Parish PCC have selected the David Hoyle Foundation as their “Charity of the Year”.

Following the announcement that Farnborough Hill School had selected the foundation as its Charity of the Year, Marceline was invited to address an audience of staff and students at the school. It was an opportunity to demonstrate and communicate with the students regarding the foundation's aims to support environmental and educational projects. The school will be undertaking various fundraising initiatives and events during the school year.

At the same time, The Salesian College, where Henry Hoyle was a student, has again selected the foundation as its Charity of the Year. Last year the college raised over £1,500 for the charity by holding a sponsored walk around the village.

It was also announced recently that the parish of Crondall & Ewshot Parochial Church Council had also selected to support the foundation jointly with Dogs for Autism.

The foundation is hugely grateful to Farnborough Hill, The Salesian College and the PCC for their support.

Project News: School bags go to Cameroon

School bag project

When The David Hoyle Foundation was founded, one of its main objectives was the support of educational and environmental projects in Cameroon and this summer it was able to support 235 schoolchildren in the village Bagyeli village of Campo M'aan and Nguti in Cameroon. This was achieved through the provision of waterproof school bags, pre-filled with pencils, pens, paper and other essential school equipment.

All the bags and content were donated by the families and children at Crondall Primary School, the parishioners of St Andrews Church in Farnham and residents of Crondall. The school bags will allow the children to carry all the essential equipment along with their books and everyday items they require to attend school.

Marceline said, "Even small things, like carrying books to school, can prove a challenge without something as simple as a school bag and the David Hoyle Foundation was keen to support these children in Campo M'aan."
